Cairo, Egypt | Sunday- 8 February, 2015:

Director Islam Safiyyudin Mohamed revealed that his short film Acapella will be part of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival within Forum Expanded section. Acapella's participation comes as part of Film Clinic's support to the enterprising director and its incessant contribution in backing talented filmmakers across the Arab world.

Within 13 minutes, we see one true moment of awareness carries the potential to counteract a lifetime of complacency. A different way to known run down models; automated existence; systems that fail because they are based on a game that is fixed from the get go. For most of us who remain asleep, the cruelty of such systems are either missed completely, or strengthened by our silence. And only when all man-manufactured instruments and devises are removed from the symphony of existence do the masses have a chance at reaching harmony through a true and resonating Acapella.

In 2006 Forum Expanded was launched within the framework of Berlin International Film Festival. Presenting film, video, installation and performative works on varying themes and in multiple venues across Berlin, works in Forum Expanded provide a critical perspective and an expanded sense of cinematography.

Born in 1976, Islam Safiyyudin Mohamed is an Egyptian writer and filmmaker. He worked in the fields of cinema, television and media. His most remarkable works is the German short Triangulum. Produced by Safiyyudin, Triangulum also exposed his acting talents.

Acapella will screen on Monday, February 9th, 2015 at 18:00 pm at Akademie der Künste (Hanseatenweg) (E), and on Wednesday, February 11th at 13:45 pm at Kino Arsenal 1 (E).
